Job Description:
Phelps Dunbar is an AmLaw 200 full-service law firm. The
Financial Analyst is responsible for the preparation of the monthly
revenue management reports and budget variance analyses across
several key performance indicators. This position also assists in
the preparation and maintenance of the annual firm revenue budget
and forecast, profitability analyses of clients and timekeepers and
other routine and special reports for distribution as needed. The
Financial Analyst regularly interacts directly with senior
management and partners and is expected to uphold all firm policies
and procedures and represent the department with a professional and
positive manner.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Proactive
analysis of production, profitability and overall financial
performance on a monthly and quarterly basisGenerate and distribute
standard and custom reports for Firm management and partners to
track WIP, AR, billings, and other statistics including, client,
matter and timekeeper profitability, cross-selling, historical
trending, top clients, etcProvide support for the annual revenue
budget and forecasting process for the practice groups, including
timekeeper rate setting, headcount analysis, billing realization
reviewAssist with pricing models that are mutually beneficial for
the Firm and clientsReview rate exceptions and discounts for all
clients and matters and work with Billing Partners to update as
neededGenerate routine and complex raw data via SQL for
distribution as needed by other internal departments for trending,
prospective client RFPs, etcResponsible for timekeeper management,
including new timekeeper requests, rate review, and access to time
entryAssist with implementation of firm wide initiatives and
upgradesOther duties as assigned by DirectorEducation and
Experience Required:Bachelors degree in finance or
accountingMinimum of 1 year experience in a financial analysis role
in a professional environment; law firm preferredQualifications and
Skills Required:Excellent interpersonal and team working skills,
including the ability to work with all levels within an
organizationAble to critically think through issues, and articulate
thoughts and concepts adeptlyAbility to see an issue through from
start to finish, while organizing work flow and using time
efficientlyAbility to anticipate work needs and follow through with
minimum direction, follow up on own initiativeExceptional attention
to detail, determination, self-motivation and resolveAdvanced
knowledge of MS Excel, Access and PowerPointExperience with Elite
3E, SQL and Power BI preferredPerformance Measures:Performance is
