team.What Success Means In This PositionThe Assistant Principal is
responsible for assisting the school principal in the planning,
organization, administration, and management with an emphasis on
leading the school's operations. Position assists with supervising
staff, creating a safe environment, and other duties associated
with the successful operation of the school.Essential Duties:
- Coordinates and supervises the daily operation of the school's
attendance program, athletics and activities program, security
functions, transportation, cafeteria program, custodial program,
in-school suspension, detention operations, and the clinic and also
works in cooperation with the Chief Academic Officer.
- Develops and executes student recruitment efforts that target
families with school-aged children immediately surrounding each
school
- Complies with all federal, state, and organizational student
registration requirements throughout the enrollment process (i.e.
transfers, testing, etc.)
- Directly and indirectly manages receptionist, SIS coordinator,
registrar, cafeteria manager, transportation manager, and school
nurse.
- Establishes and administers the school's student discipline
plan and the school's plan for ensuring a safe and orderly
environment.
- Assists the school principals in ensuring that the school's
policies and procedures related to student discipline referrals and
discipline action plans meet state, federal, and division
requirements.
- Performs classroom observations and conferences with teachers
(informal/formal) to improve the instructional program utilizing
NIET Teaching and Learning Standards Rubric.
- Conferences with parents/guardians of students concerning
discipline, attendance, and student behavior.
- Provides professional development for the instructional staff
and other assigned personnel regarding school security, the Rights
and Responsibilities Handbook, classroom management, effective
discipline strategies, and conferencing techniques.
- Attends and supervises after-school, evening, and weekend
school sponsored events and activities as assigned.
- Prepares data reports for assessments, attendance, and
discipline for school and district leadership team(s) as well as
monthly board meetings.
- Adherence to continued utilization of the Teacher Advancement
Program (TAP) and assist leadership team in staff development,
clusters, and leadership team meetings.
- Assist and support TAP Leadership Team meetings, Cluster
meetings, RTI, Testing and Assessment systems and programming.
- Manage Curricula orders and scheduling through vendors and
third parties.
- Manage and Monitor Data Systems: Jcampus (Grading), iReady,
Leap360, school google shared drive.
- Oversee after-school activities by serving as the administrator
on duty for after-school clubs and activities.Qualifications
- Master's Degree in Education or similar area of study.
- Three to five years of successful teaching experience and/or
previous experience in school administration.
- Valid Louisiana Teaching Certificate with Louisiana
Certification as Principal/ Leadership Endorsement listed on
certificate.
- The ability to lead the school in the temporary absence of the
Principal and engender trust from the school staff.Physical
