AECOM is seeking a highly talented Civil/Structural Engineer to augment the Energy Business Line, Oil & Gas/Industrial Engineering team. As our US Oil & Gas engineering team integrates into the AECOM Energy Sector, this is a unique and exciting opportunity to support this growing business with various types of energy related projects. This position will be based in our New Orleans, LA office. This position involves the development and design of civil/structural engineering for construction drawings for the power, oil, gas and petrochemical and other process industry projects. Level Specific Responsibilities: * Under general direction, completes engineering assignments of moderate to advanced complexity. * Has an advanced level of understanding of civil/structural engineering practices. * Fully understands and assists with the preparation of civil/structural project scope. * Fully understands business development concepts and methods and provides support to proposals. * Fully understands codes, permits, and company cornerstone applications. * Fully versed and can check work sequence, general content, and the methods used to generate specifications for the purchase of material, equipment, systems, services, or construction within civil/structural discipline. * Fully versed with the process of preparing and checking calculations within civil/structural discipline. * Able to learn and use basic CAD sketching tools. * Can read and understand construction drawings. * Fully versed in the collection and/or evaluation of data and information regarding technical and economic factors relating to civil/structural engineering. * Has basic understanding of external factors that impact specific engineering problems. * Fully understands the use of requisitions and the role of materials management. * Reviews and advises on purchase orders and subcontracts. * Assists with the development of manpower, man-hour, and labor cost requirements to aid in evaluating the budget. * Takes the lead on estimating tasks and performs material take-offs for civil/structural discipline. * Advanced knowledge of civil/structural discipline's material costs, equipment, and materials lists. * Understands cost analysis and forecasting. * Understands the planning and scheduling of engineering tasks. * Understands project change order process and can identify a potential change. * Understands the work sequence, general content, and the methods used to generate specifications for the purchase of material, equipment, systems, services, or construction within civil/structural discipline. * Can integrate all project functional requirements into a complete project plan. * May provide technical guidance to less experienced engineering staff. * Maintains positive working relationships with peer leaders. * Builds productive relationships with organizations within and external to engineering. Job Profile Summary Performs specific and limited portions of a broader assignment of an experienced engineer. Gathers and correlates basic engineering data using established and well-defined procedures. Works on detailed or routine engineering assignments involving calculations and relatively simple tests. Proposes approach to solve new problems encountered. Identifies discrepancies in results. Provides guidance to entry level engineers. Performs work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule with little supervision. Minimum Requirements Education: * Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering and 4 years of relevant engineering design experience (civil & steel structures) in an industrial facilities environment or demonstrated equivalency of education and/or experience. AND * Previous engineering design experience with structural steel and concrete. * Experience utilizing, STAADPro, structural modeling software. * Experience utilizing AutoCAD, computer aided design software. * Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Outlook, Word and Excel. * Effective written and verbal communication skills. * Capable of traveling to plants to assist project teams with creating field sketches; take dimensions, climb ladders, etc., at project site locations. * Capable of traveling to plants to assist project teams with creating field sketches; take dimensions, climb ladders, etc., at project site locations. Preferred Qualifications * Professional Engineering License or EIT * Experience working on multi-discipline projects. * Previous experience working on Oil & Gas, Power and/or Petrochemical industry projects.
