  • Job Title: Community Outreach Planner
  • Full Time or Part Time: Full Time
  • Temporary/Seasonal/Regular: Temporary (estimated 6-12 months)
  • Compensation: $36-$42/hour with overtime potential

    • Develop and implement collaborative actions with stakeholders and communities impacted by a disaster.
    • Lead the engagement of external stakeholders including community organizations, universities, public agencies, elected officials, and technical assistance providers with the goal of facilitating outreach initiatives.
    • Establish and maintain effective working relationships and communication with key community outreach stakeholders.
    • Utilize stakeholder analysis and manage knowledge of community relationships; assets and priorities to advance specific recovery strategies and initiatives; and to evaluate, refocus or pivot community engagement strategies and priorities.
    • Plan, coordinate, and engage in community outreach and education, including meetings, strategic convenings, and presentations in support of recovery efforts.
    • Oversee continuity between community engagement and communications activities through shared understanding and messaging, documentation, and both internal and public-facing collateral materials that reflect community goals, objectives, strategies, plans, and implementation progress.Preferred Skills, Education, and Experience:
      • Experience supporting planning efforts either for disaster preparedness or as a response to a disaster.
      • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
      • Current FEMA badging a plus.
      • Excellent collaboration skills as well as the ability to work independently.Required Qualifications:
        • Bachelors degree or higher in Emergency Management Planning or related field.
        • Equivalency: Professional experience beyond minimum requirements, in a related field may substitute the bachelor's degree on a year for year basis.
        • 5+ years' professional experience in Emergency Management Planning and/or Response/Recovery operations.
        • Coursework or experience with community outreach and/or journalism.
        • Experience drafting and presenting internal and public-facing communications.
        • Demonstrated abilities to work with complex regulations and issues.
        • Computer Proficiency with experience using Microsoft Office.Physical Demands and Work Environment:
          • Must be able to be mobile around client worksite.
          • Ability to work at a computer for prolonged periods of time as needed.
          • Requires travel and long-term deployment.
          • May work in an office or home environment or be deployed to the field which may require working outdoors in adverse weather conditions.
          • Work may be on-site with clients ex: EOC, hospital, debris sites or local government buildings.
          • All AC Disaster Consulting (ACDC) positions are remote work site positions with the home location agreed upon at time of hire.
