About the position The Safety / Emergency Management Coordinator
reports to the Facilities Management Director. This position is
responsible for coordinating, monitoring, and maintaining
regulatory compliance activities related to the Environment of
Care, Life Safety, and Emergency Management. This includes but is
not limited to policy management, EOC and LS rounds, maintenance
and construction related safety / risk assessments, EM exercises
and documentation, and participates in regulatory survey reviews
including CMS, TJC, LASFM, LDH, DHH, etc. Requirements: An
Associate degree, or a recognized field related Certification such
as CHFM, CHSP, or CHEP, required, plus three (3) years Safety, Life
Safety, or Emergency Management experience. Proficient in quality
improvement processes. Proficient computer skills in MS Office
product (word, excel, power point) to develop spreadsheets, graphs,
and presentations. Requires above average written and oral
communication. Requires the ability to deal with Environmental
Conditions such as, working inside and outside, possibly in all
types of weather, and working in close quarters with others under
stressful conditions. Responsibilities: Plans and schedules
meetings, exercises, and activities to maintain EOC and EM
compliance. Collects data and creates reports on activities,
finding, and trends for reporting to the EOC and EM committees.
Maintains assessments related to maintenance and construction
activities such as Preconstruction, Infection Control, and Interim
Life Safety Risk assessments and monitors activities. Regularly
reviews EOC documentation to verify activities and compliance.
Stays informed of regulatory changes and assists with policy
adjustments and action plans as needed. EOC is inclusive of Safety
and Security, Hazardous Materials and Waste, Fire Safety / Life
Safety, Medical Equipment, Utility, and other physical
environmental requirements. Coordinates and conducts EOC and LS
rounds regularly. Maintains documentation and reports findings to
department directors. Reviews EM inventories as defined in policies
and SOPs to ensure compliance. Reports surveillance activities to
EOC and EM committees. Coordinates, plans, and facilitates EM
drills and exercises. Coordinates exercises with outside resources
including LCMC EM, Region Healthcare Coalition, Local government
EM, Police, Fire, Ambulance... Crates After Action Plans and tracks
corrective actions through completion. Participates in regulatory
surveys including TJC, CMS, LADH, DHH, LASFM, etc. UMC is an equal
