Position Description
Primary Purpose:
- Install, maintain, diagnose, and repair all equipment and
systems used in bulk handling and storage facilities. Perform all
work in compliance with Company standards, procedures, and
regulatory requirements.Essential duties and responsibilities:
- Must install, maintain, diagnose, and repair all equipment and
systems related to unloading, loading, transferring, and storage of
bulk materials.
- Operates a variety of tools/equipment such as cutting torch,
welder, forklift, hand tools, power tools (impact wrenches, drills,
etc.) and electric meters.
- Perform basic pump maintenance to include preventative
maintenance.
- Must be able to perform repair and maintenance on centrifugal
and positive displacement pumps, pipe valves, fittings, plant air
compressors, boilers, building facilities, and other related
equipment.
- Maintain a work order system to track preventative maintenance
and routine repairs.
- Maintain parts inventory and order necessary parts as
needed.
- Complete appropriate documentation and paperwork, as well as
upkeep of maintenance files.
- Respond to call-out to perform maintenance duties.
- Provide training to operators on proper maintenance of
equipment.
- Upkeep of assigned equipment or tools.
- Read and understands parts books and schematic drawings to
determine repair parts needed and work procedures.
- Oversee the construction and /or maintenance activities
performed by third parties.
- Obtain safe work permits to include general work, inspection,
lock out/tag out, and hot work.
- Attend daily, weekly, and monthly safety meetings.
- Identify, report, and correct safety and environmental
concerns.
- Report all accidents, incidents, and near misses to
management.
- Other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements
Minimum requirements:
Education:
- High School diploma or equivalent.Experience/specific
knowledge:
- Previous experience with installation, maintenance, diagnostic,
and repair of equipment and systems.Certifications, skills, and
abilities:
- Must have ability to possess a TWIC (Transportation Worker
Identification Credential) card.Competencies, skills, and
abilities:
- Effectively communicate, orally (face to face and by telephone)
and in writing, in English with coworkers, contractors, government
officials and Senior Management.
- Read and understand written material (in English), including
use and understanding of basic numerical calculations.
- Ability to complete HAZ-MAT, DOT, Confined Space, and
Lockout/Tagout training.
- Ability to perform job duties with little supervision.
- Must possess basic computer skills. (Word, Excel,
Outlook)Physical demands:
- Must be able to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods of
time.
- Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Must be willing to work in protected areas at heights greater
than six (6) feet above ground.
- Must be able to work over water (dock).
- Must be able to reach, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, and
crawl.
- Must be able to hear and smell for deficiencies or
hazards.
- Must be able to work in confined spaces (inside storage
tanks).
- Must be able to pass a respiratory fit test.
- Must be able to perform tasks while wearing a full face
respirator or supplied air.
- Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Working conditions:
- Must be able to work in all weather conditions.
- Must be willing to work all shifts, overtime, weekends, and
holidays as needed and required.
- Must be available to respond to call-out.
- Must be able to work with a team, take direction from
supervisor, keep required work schedule, focus on attention to
details, and follow work rules.
- Must be able to work as part of a team; communicate effectively
with fellow workers and demonstrate adherence to established safety
policies and procedures.
- Must be able to withstand moderate noise levels.Preferred
education, experience, certifications, competencies, skills, and
abilities:
Above the minimum requirements; not required but advantageous in
this position:
- Certificate from college or technical school, a plus.
- Five (5) or more years experience with maintenance of a bulk
handling facility.
- Proficiency using Maximo (or other Asset Management Program
