The Endoscopy Nurse Manager will perform as the Business Manager of the Unit, providing high level leadership and support for all range of administrative, budgeting, materials management and equipment services necessary to support direct care providers delivering exemplary patient care to patients while in the specials procedure environment. The Endoscopy Manager is responsible for the supervision, and evaluation of patient care in all assigned areas. This includes initiation and evaluation of processes used to assess the needs of the unit and its patients, assisting in planning the programs needed to meet unit needs to improve the delivery of patient care. Ensuring high standard of nursing care to patients receiving care in unit. Provide technical assistance during diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures.TOUR OF DUTY: Monday - Friday 7:30AM - 4:00PM or (As patient care dictates)This is a NON-BARGAINING unit positionPREFERRED EXPERIENCE:Minimum of 2 years' endoscopy experience and 3-5 years in managerial or charge nurse position Meticulous attention to detail, good communication and interpersonal skillsFunctional Statement Title/: Endoscopy Nurse Manager (Functional Statement is available for review in the Human Resources Office)Relocation/Recruitment Incentives is authorized for this positionBasic Requirements: United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy. Graduate of a school of professional nursing approved by the appropriate State-accrediting agency and accredited by one of the following accrediting bodies at the time the program was completed by the applicant: The Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). In cases of graduates of foreign schools of professional nursing, possession of current, full, active and unrestricted registration will meet the requirement of graduation from an approved school of professional nursing. OR The completion of coursework equivalent to a nursing degree in a MSN Bridge Program that qualifies for professional nursing registration constitutes the completion of an approved course of study of professional nursing. Students should submit the certificate of professional nursing to sit for the NCLEX to the VA along with a copy of the MSN transcript. (Reference VA Handbook 5005, Appendix G6) OR In cases of graduates of foreign schools of professional nursing, possession of a current, full, active and unrestricted registration will meet the requirement for graduation from an approved school of professional nursing. Current, full, active, and unrestricted registration as a graduate professional nurse in a State, Territory or Commonwealth (i.e., Puerto Rico) of the United States, or the District of Columbia. GRADE DETERMINATIONS: Experience as a RN will be evaluated to determine if the experience is of an acceptable level of quality with regard to the following four dimensions of nursing: Practice, Professional Development, Collaboration and Scientific Inquiry. Each dimension of practice has criteria that demonstrate essential core competencies for VHA Nursing Personnel.Waiver of NLNAC or CCNE Accreditation Requirement. The approving official may authorize a waiver of the requirement for NLNAC or CCNE accreditation of any degree in nursing provided the college or university has regional accreditation (or was State approved) at the time of the candidate's graduation and the composite qualifications of the applicant warrant such consideration. Waivers at the doctoral level are not required; however, the program must be regionally accredited at the time of the candidate's graduation. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: BSN with Approximately 2-3 years (OR) Associate Degree or Diploma in Nursing and bachelor's degree in a related field, with Approximately 2-3 years (OR) Master's degree in nursing or related field with BSN or bachelor's degree in a related field, with Approximately 1-2 years. [If MSN obtained in a Bridge Program, no BSN required.] (OR) Doctoral degree in nursing or meets basic requirements for appointment and has doctoral degree in related field. Master's degree in nursing or related field with BSN or bachelor's degree in a related field with approximately 2-3 years (If MSN obtained in a Bridge Program, no BSN required) or Doctoral degree in nursing or related field with approximately 2-3 years of experience.Reference: VA Regulations, specifically VA Handbook 5005, Part II, Appendix G-6 Nurse Qualification Standard. This can be found in the local Human Resources Office.Physical Requirements: Heavy Lifting (45 lbs. and over); Heavy Carrying (45 lbs. and over); Straight Pulling (up to 1 hour); Pushing (1 - 2 hours); Reaching above shoulder; Use of fingers; Both hands required; Walking (up to 6 hours); Standing (up to 8 hours); Repeated bending (up to 1 hour); Ability for rapid mental and muscular coordination simultaneously; Near vision correctable at 13" to 16"; Hearing (aid permitted).Influenza Prevention Program Statement: Participation in the seasonal influenza program is a condition of employment and a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP).
