Position Summary:Licensed Practical Nurse provides quality nursing care to patients under the direction of a physician or registered nurse in accordance with the Nurse Practice Act and Access Health Louisiana protocols and standards.Minimum QualificationsEducation1. Current Louisiana LPN license and knowledge of their scope of practice.2. CPR Certification required.ExperienceMinimum 2 years experience in an ambulatory care setting. Will consider new graduates with 1 year or more experience in health care related field. Strongly Preferred: Supervisor/ Leadership experience. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities1. Possess strong interpersonal and communication skills.2. Calm, professional attitude in stressful situations and interactions.3. High level of ethics in maintaining patient confidentiality.4. Excellent analytical skills to assess and evaluate patient needs and develop and implement a care plan.5. Handles a multitude of tasks simultaneously.6. Deal with and/or solves stressful situations.7. Communicates with patients, physicians, and other staff in verbal and written form.8. Provides safe and effective nursing care.9. Maintains professional composure under stress as in emergency situations.Physical and Mental Requirements1. Stands and walks most of the day.2. Read gauges, digital read-outs, graphs and educational material, and patient charts in English. (Visual acuity)3. Ability to move to exam rooms and workspaces.4. MUST be able to travel to other Access Health Clinics as needed.5. Exerts up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, including pushing and/or pulling.6. Operate office equipment including telephone, printer, and fax.7. Ability to operate vehicle if needed for occasional travel to other Access Health Clinics.8. OSHA Category I: Duties performed routinely require exposure to blood, body fluid and tissue.I: Essential Duties/Responsibilities (Position):Patient Relations1. Achieves customer/patient satisfaction by greeting patients and proactively attending to their needs.2. Responds to patient requests in a timely and efficient manner.3. Maintains confidentiality of patient information at work and off duty.Assessment1. Room's patients, takes vital signs, collects records and communicates pertinent data that is relevant to the patient's care (age specific).2. Recognizes patient abnormalities, urgent needs, emergencies and seeks RN or physician assistance.3. Facilitates the workflow of physicians schedule by assessing patient needs.4. Responds to all telephone or walk in needs by completing an accurate evaluation of the patient's problem or condition, in a timely manner.Treatment /Care1. Demonstrates clinical knowledge and technical skills specific to:a. Routine patient careb. Medication Administrationc. Blood Drawsd. EKG2. Assist the physician with clinical procedures including biopsies, Pap smears, suturing and debridement.3. Implements nursing care in accordance with established policies and procedures adapting techniques to meet individual patient needs.4. Knowledgeable about standard practice and procedures that monitor, prevent and control infection in the clinic setting.5. Instructs patients on care techniques and provides information in compliance with physician orders and treatment plans.6. Acts as an advocate in providing safe delivery of care at all times.7. Documents patient care, changes in symptoms, reactions and documents the action in response to those changes.8. Teaches patients/families all new procedures and medications.9. Participates in preventative health maintenance initiatives and recalls.10. Reviews patient charts 24 hours prior to office visit to assure all necessary information for patient's appointment is present.Implementation (age specific)1. Interprets and coordinates the implementation of physician orders.2. Processes physician written orders in a timely basis.3. Prioritizes implementations of physician orders according to patient needs, physicians' requests and clinic procedures.4. Assists in obtaining and documenting prior authorization of patient tests and procedures.5. Fills necessary request slips utilizing proper ICD9 and CPT coding.6. Maintains knowledge about referral guidelines and physicians network.Evaluation1. Critical thinking ability sufficient for identifying cause and effect relations in clinical situations.2. Evaluates patient status and response to treatment.3. Evaluates effectiveness of patient teaching and discharge planning activities4. Modifies the plan care base on evaluation of patient outcomes.5. Evaluates results of diagnostic studies (i.e. lab, x-ray, holter monitors)Documentation1. Accurately and appropriately documents observations, actions, and patient outcome.2. Maintains patient's chart medication record.3. Maintains sample medication log.4. Initiates and completes documentation of patient interactions including telephone encounters, medical procedures, consent forms and other related communications.Billing1. Checks superbills for accuracy and readiness for billing.2. Ensured proper ICD 9 and CPT coding on all forms.Policy/Procedures1. Adheres to Clinic Policies and Procedures.2. Demonstrates safe habits in the work place with concern or the safety of employees and patients confidentiality.3. Handles all patient communication and documentation in a confidential manner.4. Releases patient information/records following clinic policies and procedures.$22.00 - $30.00 (depending on experience)*Must be fully vaccinated for Covid-19*
