Job Description:
This job provides care and nursing service to bariatric patients
of all age groups. Mentors and trains RNs, LPNs, and other members
of the bariatric team. Acts as a patient advocate and patient
educator and promotes optimum patient independence, self-care, and
rehabilitation. Is an integral member of the bariatric team and
assists the bariatric physicians by independently monitoring
certain patients, managing outpatient clinics, and periodically
reviewing all patients with the physicians.EducationRequired -
Registered Nurse diploma
Preferred - Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Nursing
Work ExperienceRequired -None.Preferred- 1 year experience in a
Bariatric Program
CertificationsRequired - Current RN License in the state of
practicePreferred- Current Bariatric Nursing CertificationKnowledge

Physical and Environmental Demands
The physical essential functions of this job include (but are not
limited to) the following: Frequently exerting 10 to 20 pounds of
force to move objects; occasionally exerting up to 100 pounds of
force. Physical demand requirements are in excess of those for

Must be able to stoop, bend, reach and grab with arms and hands,

holiday, on call availability).
Duties performed routinely require exposure to blood, body fluid
and tissue.
The incumbent works in a patient care area; works in an area where
patients enter; works directly with patients; and/or works with
specimens that could contain diseases. There may be an occupational
risk for exposure to all communicable diseases.Because the
incumbent works within a healthcare setting, there may be
occupational risk for exposure to hazardous medications or
hazardous waste within the environment through receipt, transport,
storage, preparation, dispensing, administration, cleaning and/or
disposal of contaminated waste. The risk level of exposure may
increase depending on the essential job duties of the role.
