Job Description:
This job performs various laboratory functions which support the
department which may include phlebotomy; specimen receiving and
processing into the LIS; centrifugation; aliquoting, labeling and
distribution of specimens to the appropriate test sites. This job
may also perform waived and moderately complex procedures; maintain
and monitor equipment; and perform appropriate quality
control.EducationRequired -High School diploma or
equivalentPreferred -Formal phlebotomy training
Work ExperienceRequired -None.Preferred - 1 year hospital based
phlebotomy experience
CertificationsRequired -Proof of application to the State Board as
a Laboratory Assistant Trainee or Laboratory Assistant in the state
of practice must be acquired and submitted to Laboratory Management
within 90 days from date of hireLouisiana License as a Laboratory
Assistant or Laboratory Assistant Trainee must be acquired and
submitted to Laboratory Management within 180 days from date of
hireKnowledge Skills and Abilities (KSAs)

occupational risk for exposure to hazardous medications or
hazardous waste within the environment through receipt, transport,
storage, preparation, dispensing, administration, cleaning and/or
disposal of contaminated waste. The risk level of exposure may
increase depending on the essential job duties of the role.
