Job Description:
This job assists the hospital in the care of patients and
performs special technical skills/treatments according to level of
knowledge under the supervision of a physician.This job description
is a summary of the primary duties and responsibilities of the job

High school diploma or equivalentGraduation from an approved
Paramedic ProgramWork ExperienceRequired - NonePreferred -
Emergency Medical Services (EMS) or Hospital
ExperienceCertificationsRequired - Basic Life Support (BLS)
Certification from the American Heart AssociationCrisis Prevention
Intervention (CPI) Certification to be obtained within 30 days of
hireParamedic License in the State of PracticeRegistered Paramedic
with the National Registry of Emergency Medical
TechniciansKnowledge Skills and Abilities (KSAs)
- Must have computer skills and dexterity required for data entry
and retrieval of information.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills and the
ability to present information clearly and professionally.
- Must be proficient with Windows-style applications, various
software packages specific to role and keyboard.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Self-directed including the ability to work independently.
- Effective planning, organizing, and time management
skills.
- Ability to identify medical emergencies and assist with
management.Job Duties
- Provides direct patient care, within the scope of their
license, with supervision from the physician. This may include the
following: medical treatment of wounds at the
basic/intermediate/advanced level, would care, ability to
administer medications by pre-established protocol which includes
vasoactive medications, draw bloodwork, place splints/boots/etc.,
Foley insertion, use of glucometer, I-STAT, Kurin, vital signs
(rectal temps/immunocompromised), and IV fluid administration. The
position may administer preset protocols and standing orders, as
ordered by a physician.
- Performs clinical job duties as defined in orientation packet
for skills checkoff and monitored on an annual basis thereafter
through annual competency assessment.
- Supports physicians, nursing, and hospital administration by
acceptance of established objectives, policies and procedures.
Demonstrates understanding of and compliance with EMTALA
regulations.
- Accurately documents patient related tasks.
- Adapts behavior to the specific patient population, including
but not limited to: respect for privacy, method of introduction to
the patient, adapting explanation of services or procedures to be
performed, requesting permissions and communication style.
