Ochsner is the leading clinical oncology program in the Gulf South Region. Our multi-disciplinary approach, advanced technologies, and focus on clinical research and our Precision Cancer Therapies Program, define our approach to cancer care. Over the last 5 years, Ochsner Health has invested more than $135M in facilities and technology across the Ochsner Cancer Institute reflecting our commitment to leading cancer care in the region and beyond. These projects have included a 115,000 ft2 expansion to the Gayle and Tom Benson Cancer Center, the new St Tammany Cancer Center in Covington, and the expansion of the Baton Rouge Cancer Center.

In this position the nurse supervises and provides nursing care to patients with cancer. Administer chemotherapy, targeted therapy, and immunotherapy to cancer patients and other specialty patients requiring these medications. We will pay for you to take the chemotherapy and biotherapy certification course offered by ONS if you are not already certified. Monitor patient's condition and create symptom management plans with the physicians. Monitor and treat life-threatening adverse reactions. Administer fluids, antibiotics, and blood products to patients. Participate in the care of patients enrolled in phase 1, 2, and 3 clinical trials. Provide care and maintenance for central line catheters. Draw labs from both central and peripherally. Create stress management plans with the patients and their families once they receive their cancer diagnosis. Recognize and triage cancer-related issues and complex laboratory values. Understand and manage complex treatment plan schedules. Provide supportive resources and educations to patients and their families based on the patients' diagnosis and treatment. Teach both the patients and their families about what to expect throughout their treatment and survivorship. Demonstrates collaboration, professionalism, and effective communication in all interactions with physicians, the administrative team.EducationRequired - Registered nurse diploma.
Preferred - Associate's degree in nursing.

CertificationsRequired - Current registered nurse (RN) license in state of practice.Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.Preferred -Certification in clinical specialty area.
