Program Details: Our StaRN program is very competitive. It is a yearlong, extensive clinical training consisting of 14 weeks of orientation, followed by 9 months of professional development. It takes a new graduate nurse through a formalized series of learning experiences, including:Challenging curriculumMonthly educational sessionsGuided clinical with preceptorsMentoring and debriefing with experienced nurse leadersMeasurement and evaluation of skills through hands-on simulationsWorking collaboratively on an evidence-based practice projectStaRN will assist the graduate nurse with the transition out of the classroom setting onto the unit by providing the following training: Didactic training: introduces nurses to core curriculum and hospital initiatives in a classroom settingSimulation training: reinforces nursing skills learned in a didactic settingHands on training: 8 weeks with a facility preceptor in a nursing unitThe schedule during the first portion of the StaRN program is Mon-Fri, 8-hours a day, 40 hours a week. The preceptorship portion of the program consists of three 12-hour shifts at the hospital with every other weekend. We provide paid study days off for new grads to have the opportunity to sit for their NCLEX exam. Program acceptance requires a minimum two (2) year, full time commitment to the hospital.
