Education
Required Masters degree from a school of nurse anesthesia
accredited by the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists
(AANA).
Work Experience
Required - None.
Certifications
Required License as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) in
the state of practice.
Certification through the American Association of Nurse
Anesthetists (AANA).
Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) Certification from the American
Heart Association.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities (KSAs)
Computer skills and dexterity for data entry and retrieval of
patient information.
Proficient with Windows-style applications and keyboard.
Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability
to present information clearly and professionally to varying levels
of individuals throughout the patient care process.
Ability to work a flexible work schedule (e.g. 24/7, weekend,
holiday, on call availability).
Job Duties
Documents patient procedures and incidents.
Assesses patient before, during, and after administering
anesthesia.
Ensures patient safety and administers anesthesia following
accepted practice techniques.
Acts as a liaison to surgeons, anesthesiologists, co-workers,
patients, and families.
Participates in department quality assurance initiatives and
activities of professional development.
Adapts behavior to the specific patient population, including but
not limited to: respect for privacy, method of introduction to the
patient, adapting explanation of services or procedures to be
performed, requesting permissions and communication style.
Performs other related duties as required.

Physical and Environmental Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those

Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally,
and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than
