General Purpose: The Cashier is responsible for the daily flow of the check-out process to ensure all items are charged to the customer at the appropriate price in the most efficient way possible. Responsibilities & Duties:

• Ensure all customers are greeted when both entering and exiting the store
• Ensure cleanliness standards are met and maintained on the registers as well as the surrounding areas, such as: windowsills, floors, and shelving, throughout the entire shift
• Assist with unloading of items to the register belt, scan each item selected by the customer and ensure payment is received in full for each purchase
• Empty all garbage receptacles at the start of the shift as well as at the end of each shift
• Fill and stock all front aisles and coke machines on an as needed basis
• Expedite front lines, direct flow of customers, and ensure that each customer receives outstanding customer service by providing a friendly environment
• Maintain orderly placement of grocery carts
• Complete audit of cash drawer, counting each dollar and cent within both at the start of the shift and upon completion of the shift
• Check the bottom of each grocery cart to ensure all items are scanned and paid for by the customer
• Provide stellar customer service: respond to customer questions, requests, complaints and involve Front End Manager when needed to explain policies in a courteous manner
• Be observant of security problems and develop methods of prevention (vendor receiving, associate theft, shoplifting)
• Assure the safety of self, customers and co-workers by understanding and practicing store safety rules and notifying a Store Manager of any potential hazard immediately
• Communicate with the Front-End Manager on problems and recommendations
• Perform any other miscellaneous tasks assigned by the Front-End Manager
• Specifically helping out with other cashiers for bagging and answering questions as needed .
  
  Requirements:
  Required Education / Experience:
  • Minimum education requirement is a high school degree
  • Experience required as cashier, but in store training shall be conducted.
  • Strong customer service required
  • Ability to effectively communicate and establish working relationships with other departments and personnel.
  • Basic mathematical skills required (add, subtract, multiply, and divide)
  • Experience, understanding, and knowledge of operations in a food service business/industry
  • Basic reading and writing ability; able to read instructions, merchandising labels, order codes, numbers, reports, printed paper invoices and order forms.
  • Must be a self-starter who is able to demonstrate initiative in planning, work ethic, and make independent decisions based on sound judgment. Physical Demands:
    • Work on tile or concrete standing for extended periods of time.
    • Lift a maximum of 50 lbs. from 6 inches to 84 inches, overhead.
    • Move cardboard into baler, if over 18 years of age.
    • Move a maximum of 50 lbs. up to 15 yards.
    • Use maintenance and product transportation equipment if properly trained
    • Reach forward and/or down with both hands up to 36 inches to clean, obtain merchandise on stocking cart, multi tray rack or pallets, or shelves; as well as preparing and packaging product.
    • Reach up to full extension of arms to place signs, banners or any other items required.
    • Handle labels, signs or tags, case cutter or utility knife, grasp and handle wet, iced, cold, metal, paper, plastic products, cardboard, packaging and debris.
    • Bend and Twist at the waist while cleaning, cutting or opening, sorting, loading and unloading, moving or removing merchandise and stocking merchandise.
    • Move display fixtures, stocking carts, pallet jacks (up to 300 lbs.) and maintenance equipment approximately 25 yards.
    • Climb on ladders, racks, cases, shelving and stairs up to three feet in height.
    • Balance on wet, slick, dirty and debris strewn floors. PI175382816
