HR GeneralistOverview: Covington, LA: Flexicrew Technical Services (FTS) is seeking an HR Generalist. This position will facilitate pre-employment processing of fleet candidates from offer acceptance through completion of pre-employment electronic documents, and preparedness for mariner candidate onboarding.Essential Duties: Responsibilities shall include, but shall not be limited to, the following:

  • Converse by phone with candidates to explain pre-employment process, onboarding expectations, and candidate responsibilities.
  • Dispatch or confirmation of dispatch of pre-employment document packets (via DocuSign) to candidates who accept offers of employment.
  • Receive, sort, catalog and archive pre-employment documents when submitted by candidates with the correct nomenclature hierarchy.
  • Process request for candidate background checks with third party service.
  • Contact candidate's past employers and references as needed.
  • Arrange medical screening and technical testing, when appropriate, as well as coordinating travel and lodging for selected applicants.
  • Maintain contact with candidates to confirm their progress through pre-employment is on pace.
  • Update candidate's progress in Applicant Tracking spreadsheet.
  • Maintain candidate training details in the onboarding portal.
  • Facilitate handoff of candidate to the Training Department and Human Resources for training schedule, I-9 processing, personal protective equipment (PPE) distribution.
  • Ensure candidate successfully completes New Hire Orientation program.
  • Manage and comply with DOT post hire compliance with mariner's former employers.
  • Audit Recruiting onboarding processes regularly for efficiency, timeliness and consistency.
  • Assist Recruiting/HR management with recruitment metrics.
  • Comply with the organization's policies, procedures, programs, Code of Conduct, State and Federal employment law and Affirmative Action/Equal Opportunity laws.Requirements/Skills:
    • Experience: 2+ years' experience in office administration, event planning, or logistics.
    • Skills: Strong oral and written communication skills. Good personal computer functional skills, including word processing and spreadsheet applications. Detail oriented, with proven ability to multi-task. Knowledge of Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, OneNote). Ability to navigate and contribute to onboarding software.Preferred Qualifications:
      • Education: Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or relevant field preferred.
      • Maritime experience or knowledge preferred, but not required.Physical Requirements: Work environment will consist of working within the Recruiting Department. Travel will be required to engage in mariners on vessels at HOS Port - Port Fourchon, LA, in local ports of call as well as at various recruiting events.
        • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
        • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.Eyesight: Functional, correctable to 20/20.Hearing: Functional, correctable to normal to perceive sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction; Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication and to make the discriminations in sound.Speech: Ability to express or exchange ideas by means of the spoken word.Mobility: Unencumbered by physical limitations to perform the following activities: Sedentary work in an office environment that includes frequent sitting, occasional standing and walking, gross and fine motor dexterity for typing and reasonable lifting of office products up to 10 lbs. Ability to climb vessels. HOURS OF WORKStandard Hours: 0800-1700 Monday through Friday (or until work is completed), excluding travel and overtime. Some overtime will be required from time to time.
