Job Description:

The incumbent serves as a director in Information Technology with responsibility for the coordination and incorporation of new technology into the LSUHSC-NO IT ecosystem as well as ensuring compatibility with technology already in place. This position will serve as the IT liaison with the LSUHSC-NO research community and will work to ensure their technology needs are known and included in the overall IT strategy. This position has management and leadership responsibility for the Network, Telecom, and Data Center Operation areas. This position has responsibility for the creation and management of IT contracts including coordination with the Contracts Office and the IT Business Office. The position will also, at times, represent LSUHSC-NO on LSU- and state-wide organizations on matters of technology and security. This position reports to the Assistant Vice Chancellor for Information Technology and is a member of the departmental senior management team.


The primary duties and responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to:

• 
  
• Meet with members of the LSUHSC-NO community both within and outside of Information Technology to discuss technology needs be that for business applications, teaching and learning, research, or other areas.
  
  
• Aid in finding ways to expand use of existing licenses rather than the purchase of separate license agreements for the same product, or the purchase of separate products to accomplish the same task.
  
  
• Ensure that technology purchases align with IT Strategy and institutional goals.
  
  
• Work closely with Governance committees evaluating technologies and making recommendations on technology needs.
  
  
• Serve as liaison between Information Technology and the LSUHSC-NO research community.
  
  
• Maintain and provide data on Information Technology capabilities for use in grant submissions.
  
  
• Provide management and leadership for the Networking and Telecommunications IT groups.
  
  
• Oversee Data Center Operations and network and telecommunications projects to ensure that projects are managed appropriately.
  
  
• Create and manage the maintenance and renewals of the contracts that IT has with external entities.
  
  
• Report on the status of these contracts and provide metrics on the levels of effort devoted to contracts, where applicable.
  
  
• Participate in the annual budgeting process for the department of Information Technology with the Asst. Vice Chancellor, Business Manager, and the other IT Directors.
  
  
• Provide oversight for the development and maintenance of forecasting fiscal year technology costs for the succeeding five fiscal years.
  
  
  
  Required Education
  
  • 
    
  • Bachelor of Science Degree. Degrees in Computer Science or Engineering are preferred.
    
    
    
    Required Experience
    
    • 
      
    • 10 years of Information Technology experience including 10+ years in a production 24/7 multi-site enterprise IT infrastructure environment including at least 5 years at a senior manager level with functional and people management

      • Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook, Word, Excel, Project and PowerPoint and Design Tools including Microsoft Visio.
        
        
      • Excellent organizational and project management skills, including the ability to plan, schedule, and carry out multiple projects at the same time to successful conclusion.
