The Director of Development provides leadership and management
of the direction, planning and execution of fundraising and
development related activities for Lambeth House.
This will include, but is not limited to, major gift
fundraising, serving as a liaison for multidisciplinary development
efforts with the LHF Board and volunteers.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
Developing and implementing strategic plans for the development
department at Lambeth House.
Providing leadership and guidance for the LHF Board, volunteers
and support personnel; planning and administering the department’s
annual operating budget.
Creating, implementing and managing an annual giving
Creating, implementing and managing a planned giving
Planning, developing and executing strategies for obtaining
private donations; identifying, cultivating and soliciting major
gift prospects (individuals, corporations and foundations).
Providing stewardship in recognition of donor philanthropy.
Identifying and utilizing resources including volunteers, staff,
residents, publications and the internet to identify linkage,
ability and interest of major gift prospects.
Supervising systematic efforts to identify, solicit, steward,
maintain and upgrade annual giving donors.
Providing for on-going promotion of planned giving
opportunities; overseeing, managing and/or planning advancement
Collaborating with the BSI staff in completing gift arrangements
which require tax or estate planning.
Attends and actively participates in LH Foundation Board and
Committee meetings; provides support to these groups.
Providing leadership for all internal and external relationship
building with a variety of constituencies; assisting leadership in
non-duplicative efforts to identify sources and prepare proposals
to government, corporations, foundations and private granting;
preparing the necessary documents to solicit these granting

external constituents, such as trustees, residents, family of

Five years of full time, progressively responsible fundraising
experience, including three years of fundraising experience.
Demonstrated success and evidence of ability to plan and execute
a fund drive.
Strong organizational and time management skills
Demonstrated supervision of professional level staff with
leadership, management, and administrative skills that motivate and
build professional support staff competencies.
Strong communication skills including ability to write and speak
persuasively about the institution.
Willingness to work evenings and weekends.
Proficient in MS Office suite and fundraising software.
Familiarity with donor database applications.
Demonstrated knowledge of planned giving.
Demonstrated success in activities to coordinate, attract, and
close major gift funding support for non-profit organizations,
including face-to-face solicitation of gifts.
