Job Description:

Our client,Robert Russa Moton Charter School, is seeking a highly qualified candidate tofill the Chief Executive Officer role. The ideal candidate will have asuccessful track record in a charter school setting.

MISSION: To provide maximumlearning experiences to enable children to be M otivated, O utstanding, T alented, O rganized, N o nonsenselearners.

POSITION SUMMARY: The Chief ExecutiveOfficer (CEO) is responsible for guiding the vision, adhering to policies,achieving goals, and assisting the Board of Directors in fulfilling itsresponsibilities. The CEO will serve as Head of Agency, and is accountable forthe leadership, strategic vision and growth of the school. The CEO providesguidance and support for the daily operational management of the school(s). Theprimary duty of the CEO is to carry out the strategic plans and policies asestablished by the Board of Directors including the academic performance,operations of the existing school and future campuses, and fiscal oversight.The CEO reports to the Board of Directors. The CEO ensures that all legalmandates from the U.S. Department of Education, the State of Louisiana, theCity of New Orleans, the Orleans Parish School Board, and the Advocates forInnovative Schools, Inc. are followed. The CEO will have a minimum of 4 directreports and this is an Exempt, 12-month position.

ILLUSTRATIVE DUTIES:  The duties andresponsibilities of the CEO, as assigned by the Board of Directors, include butare not limited to the following:

Governance

· Servesas an ex-officio, non-voting member of the Board of Directors

· Followsall legal mandates from the U. S. Department of Education, the State ofLouisiana the City of New Orleans and the Orleans Parish School Board in allaspects related to governance, reporting and regulations associated withcharter schools

· Negotiates,on behalf of the Board when duly authorized to do so, all vendor and servicecontracts, orders, licenses, or other agreements of a special nature unless theBoard expressly limits the signing

· Servesas primary contact (Superintendent/Head of Agency) with the State Department ofEducation and OPSB

· Assuresthat the charter school adheres to all policies, timelines and requirements ofthe authorizers and regulators of the charter agreement

· Overseesall operations of the school(s) and report to the Board of Directors Advocatesfor Innovative Schools, Inc.

· Guidesthe leadership, vision, and strategic direction for the school(s)

· Followsall legal mandates from the U. S. Department of Education, the State ofLouisiana the City of New Orleans and the Orleans Parish School Board in allaspects related to academics, reporting, and regulations associated withcharter schools

· Overseesall aspects of the school including personnel, financial matters, the academicprogram, facilities, and operations

· Approvesthe scope and sequence of educational programs according to the charterobjectives as determined by the Principal

Finance

· Recommendsan annual budget including federally funded programs to the Board as requiredof a Local Education Agency by state guidelines.

· Assiststhe Board in seeking donors of time and resources in support of the school

· Setsgoals and objectives to ensure that the school meets all PerformanceRequirements in financial measures

· Supervisesthe General Budget and all federal and state reimbursements

Facility

· Setsgoals and objectives to ensure that the school meets all PerformanceRequirements in facility measures

· Submitsall authorizer facility documents and reports in a timely fashion

· Overseesthe in-house repairs and vendor services to ensure that the facility is insatisfactory condition at all times

· Monitorsthe vendor service contracts, insurance policies, warranties, and OPSB Buildingmaintenance to maintain all building operations

Human Resources

· Ensuresthat Human Resources functions are carried out in order, including new hiringpractices, salary determinations, evaluations, and terminations.

· Inspectspayroll data, time-keeping, benefits, retirement, deductions and insurancerecords for all staff

· Hearsgrievances and complaints and makes recommendations to the Board for action

· Revisesand creates Job Descriptions when needed

SPECIFIED EXPECTATIONS:

· Formsbusiness partnerships with the community

· Ensuresthat all required vendor contracts are in force including insurance,transportation, building maintenance, food service, and fire department codes.

· Buildsculture in the school and neighborhood

· Managescapital for stable financial growth

· Cultivatesan attitude of respect within all employees and families

· Listenswith an open mind to all members of the school community

· Evaluatesnon-academic employees and direct reports

· Determinesthe opening and closing of the school during emergencies

POSITIONQUALIFICATIONS:

Required Education andExperience

1. Master’s Degree inEducational Administration, Curriculum, Counseling or Special Education

3. Three years ofexperience in managing and leading a high performing organization includingstrategic development, community engagement, and operations

4. Proven record inlaunching new ventures or major initiatives

5. Understanding ofschool operational services

6. Experience runningor operating a charter school or extensive knowledge of schools

7. Knowledge ofLouisiana Charter School Laws

Preferred Education andExperience

1. Certification as a K– 12 School Superintendent (or eligibility)

2. Five years as aschool principal in K-12 settings

3. Knowledge ofcommunity agencies/services

4. Experience workingwith urban schools and engaging residents of urban communities

5. Instructionalleadership and curriculum development experience

6. Fund raising andbusiness partnerships to sponsor school events
