Job Description:

We're looking for a candidate to fill this position in an exciting company.

Work with the senior leadership to shape a vision for the organization’s policy and health and racial equity work.

Lead the development of executable and measurable organizational policy and equity implementation plans and evaluation strategies and establish bodies of work and project-based policy and equity goals and priorities.

Provide thought leadership and depth on crosscutting issues to ensure high impact policy positions.

Work with and advise senior leadership on emerging policy priorities as well as internal and external health and racial equity opportunities and challenges.

Develop, coordinate, and monitor policy and equity related performance metrics for the organization, and within and across programs/bodies of work/functional areas.

Coordinate company rapid response to high priority issues/threats through direct engagement of key external stakeholders and internal teams.

Advance our commitment to equity in our organizational culture, staff recruitment and retention, professional development, programs, and approach to engaging and managing external partner/stakeholder relationships.

Serve as a catalyst and inspire an organizational culture of excellence.

Conceive and draft high-impact reports, policy briefs, position papers, memoranda, testimony, talking points, letters, and other materials in support of company  policy priorities and positions.

Work closely across the organization to explore and define data analytics, infographics, and narrative storytelling necessary to highlight issues and influence and drive decision-making. Oversee production of policy and related materials, including graphical and pictorial content.

Recommend approaches for disseminating policy and equity products (e.g., social media, newspapers, newsletters, journals, town hall meetings, neighborhood gatherings).

Identify systemic and institutional racist policies and provide concrete ideas and strategies to highlight and address the inequities and their impact on people of color.

Monitor local, state, and federal governing bodies for actions of importance to the organization and issues affecting Louisiana residents.

Build and enhance internal and external health and racial inequity frameworks to operationalize the organization’s Health Equity Plan.

Determine and negotiate scopes of work and contracting with external consultants.

Write proposals and lead proposal development and securing new business that aligns with policy and health and racial equity efforts.

Develop project management timelines and set priorities and metrics to meet and assess program goals and deadlines.

Significant work experience (7-10+ years) in fields relevant to assigned responsibilities as well as a broad, generalist background with deep and comprehensive understanding of program design and development, systems, and networking.

Master’s degree in relevant field required

Strong understanding of the root causes of inequities, systemic racism, and the social determinants of health.

A proven record of developing and implementing policy and advocacy strategies and tactics.

Sound and strategic judgment, ability to problem solve, and nimbleness in adapting to changing circumstances.

Demonstrated ability to influence and engage diverse audiences and to build long-term collaborative relationships with key organizational and individual partners.

Superior oral and written communication skills, including the ability to explain the public health priorities and issues in compelling terms and to communicate complex ideas clearly and effectively.

Demonstrated capacity and ability to lead, oversee, and manage start-up organizational initiatives and track outcomes.

Outstanding time management and organizational skills, with careful attention to detail, and a demonstrated ability to manage multi-faceted projects and perform well independently with grace under pressure in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment.

Ability to work with diverse personalities, and the wide variety of backgrounds and experiences.

Commitment to centering diversity and equity in executing key responsibilities.

Ability to travel up to 40% of the time.
