Pomegranate Hospitality is looking for an experienced, passionate and engaging Director of People and Culture to drive the culture of a growing restaurant group focused on maintaining a safe and healthy work environment for all team members.  Pomegranate Hospitality's goal is for every employee to feel that we are not just where they work, but where they belong. This position directly oversees the Human Resources function and is responsible for ensuring that Pomegranate Hospitality embraces constant improvement and innovation in recruitment, onboarding, retention, training, development, and team engagement. The Director of People and Culture will maintain and enhance the organization’s human resources functions by strategically planning, implementing, and evaluating team member policies, programs, and practices as well oversee all legal compliance, benefits administration and compensation.

Responsibilities:

Recruitment and Team Member Development

Develops, implements and constantly improves upon a recruitment strategy that positions Pomegranate Hospitality to meet all hiring goals and timelines.

Oversees interview processes and supports other Directors to ensure the selection of high-quality candidates.

Provides training to the management team on best practices for various leadership aspects

Works with Directors to develop onboarding and training practices to ensure new hires succeed in Pomegranate Hospitality’s workplace and within their role.

Coaches company leaders through team member issues and supports team member development

Works with Directors to implement a responsive talent development program that fosters a high-performing team and develops individuals for higher-level positions.

Develops a pipeline of internal and external talent to position Pomegranate Hospitality for continued growth and success.

Create relationships with higher education institutions and youth training programs.

Attend job fairs and organize other recruitment events as necessary.

Culture

Serves as the champion in developing a culture focused on Pomegranate Hospitality’s mission, vision and core values.

Manages employee incentive programs and team-based activities.

Contributes to the team by promoting an inclusive and diverse workplace and spearheading continuous diversity and inclusion initiatives

Facilitates performance management system and ensures Directors and other leaders meet their employee evaluation and development commitments.

Develops and manages a system to monitor progressive discipline and assist with challenging coaching conversations and separations.

Maintains and updates Pomegranate Hospitality’s Team Member Handbook.

Oversees policy development and advises managers on organizational policy.

Conducts exit interviews to identify reasons for employee termination or resignation.

Compliance and Benefits Administration

Maintains all employee electronic payroll and medical files and enrolls new employees in all applicable benefit programs.

Communicates with employees about benefit programs.

Ensures employee safety, welfare, wellness, and health, including managing employee and guest accident reporting and response procedures.

Ensures Pomegranate Hospitality’s compliance with all federal, state and local labor, employment and benefits rules and regulations.

Acts as primary point of contact for all employment-related legal matters, investigations or grievances; reporting to the Founders as appropriate.

Experience and Competencies

7-10 years of HR management required; experience in hospitality or similar field preferred

Bachelor's degree in HR, Hospitality Management or related field preferred.

This role will be based in New Orleans, but must be willing to travel 2-3 days per month to Denver.

Strong organizational, task-management, team member relations, leadership, problem resolution, creativity, verbal and written communication and presentation skills.

Comprehensive knowledge of all applicable federal, state and city employment and labor laws.

Naturally outgoing and friendly attitude with personal commitment and passion for creating a safe and healthy work culture, while balancing the business needs of a fast paced, growing restaurant group

Ability to operate independently, using good judgement to make decisions.

Ability to handle confidential information discreetly and protect employee privacy.

Strong business acumen, organizational and prioritization skills, and the ability to effectively communicate to a broad range of audiences

A proven leader of people to recruit, develop, and mentor a team capable of supporting future growth and has demonstrated leadership in promoting diversity and inclusion

Ability to lead change management initiatives and effectively implement change with a strong drive for results
