Education, Minimum Training and Experience Required
A Bachelor’s degree is required or relevant safety and risk
management compliance knowledge with at least seven years of
experience. The candidate must possess a demonstrated record of
progressive leadership and administrative skills. The candidate
must be familiar with applicable state and federal environmental
regulations that apply in a university setting, and have the
ability to implement loss mitigation and control plans. The
candidate shall assure the university complies with all state and
federal mandated laws and regulations as it relates to safety, risk
management, water systems, and pipeline operations. The preferred
candidate will possess a Master’s degree or relevant safety, risk
management experience of at least ten years.
The successful candidate will be expected to:
Implement the university’s health and safety plan mandated by
the State of Louisiana.
Develop and implement an enterprise risk management program.
Direct and establish risk controls to ensure all operations are
in complete compliance with federal, state, regulatory,
institutional, University of Louisiana system guidelines, and
recommend corrective action as needed.
Assess, identify, and evaluate risks and implement processes and
procedures to ensure resolution or management of potential
Develop contingency plans to manage crises and develop roadmaps
for departmental plans across the university.
Direct the development and implementation of consistent
operating policies, procedures, and training programs to enhance
the productivity of the operations and ensure Grambling State
University is in alignment with risk compliance.
Investigate accidents and work-related injuries to determine
causes and circumstances and processes necessary to process
insurance claims (worker’s compensation, vehicle accident, team
member injuries and thefts).
Evaluate conditions of equipment and advise administration of
situations that would disrupt operations or compromise safety and
health of team members, students, and visitors.
Make recommendations regarding budget and fiscal operations for
the Safety and Risk Management department.
Identify emerging risks and recommend/implement solutions to
Serve as a technical consultant to the University Safety
Ensure the water system is operated in a safe and healthy manner
and drinking water is delivered in a safe and dependable
Direct Safety and Risk Management team to evaluate
organizational trends and recommend changes to ensure the
sustainable growth of the university.
Ensure timely submission of all reports.
Perform all other relevant duties as assigned
