Boeing Defense, Space & Security is seeking a Mid Level
Wire Design Engineer to join our Space Launch System team in
New Orleans, LA.
The successful candidate will become part of Boeing's Space
Launch Systems (SLS), which supports NASA on strategy and policy on
Space Exploration programs procured by the NASA Marshall Space
Flight Center (MSFC). The primary program under NASA's Space Launch
System (SLS) will provide a critical heavy-lift capability powering
people and cargo beyond our moon and into deep space. SLS launches
larger payloads farther in our solar system and is the most
powerful rocket ever built, enabling diverse exploration, science
and security missions. Boeing Space Launch System is responsible
for the design, development, test and production for the core stage
and avionics of the SLS.
CREO 3-D Computer Aided Design (CAD) wire harness routing and
design integration efforts across the structures teams
Wire harness design and drawing production
Design ownership and vendor coordination
Vehicle integration at Michoud Assembly Facility,
Vehicle checkout and acceptance/verification testing, and
vehicle support to NASA during testing and post-delivery.
Duties can range from development of layout & engineering CAD /
dataset production as part of vehicle development & maturation,
vendor on-site support, vendor acceptance package reviews, support
to manufacturing engineering, non-conformance processing, and
tracking design and production completeness.
This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements,
therefore a "US Person" as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is
required. "US Person" includes US Citizen, lawful permanent
resident, refugee, or asylee.
This position requires the ability to obtain access to a
National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) facility.
Access to the facility requires a background investigation by U.S.
Basic Qualifications ( Required Skills / Experience ):
Bachelor's, Master's or Doctorate of Science degree in
engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or
5 or more years of experience in an engineering discipline (or
Master's +3 / PhD)
Experience with electrical wire design
Preferred Qualifications ( Desired Skills / Experience ):
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical, Mechanical or
Aerospace Engineering degree preferred
Experience with space flight structural hardware & 3D CREO CAD
modeling and drawing generation
Experience in understanding requirements and how to apply them
to vehicle design and ability to problem solve design issues
Experience with 3D computer aided design (CAD) on aerospace
Capable of working with minimal supervision
Typical Education / Experience :
Education / experience typically acquired through advanced
technical education from an accredited course of study in
engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry
(e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work
experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and
experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience). In
the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not
required, accreditation standard.
