POSITION SUMMARY: The clinical leaders assures continuity of
quality patient care and optimal patient flow in the Department.
This position also assists with the integrity and proficiency of
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSABILITITES Directs activities of the
Outpatient clinics .
Monitors compliance with standards of care by observation,
verbal reports and written documentation, provides feedback to
staff, designated educator and manager.
Assist in the development of an action plan to increase
compliance and implement actions to correct identification
Evaluates and ensures staff documentation is compliant with
Participates in EOC rounds based on specific unit
Assist in identifying and addressing educational needs of the
Participates in the day to day operations of the department,
under the supervision of the Department Director, by assisting with
Promotes positive, motivating environment supportive of staff
Delegates appropriately and effectively and sets clear
Encourages and assists staff to deal appropriately with
conflict. Assists and coaches others in resolving ongoing problems
and escalates through chain of command.
Assist with employee evaluations and feedback.
Provides information and assists the Department Director during
employee disciplinary process and/or employee work improvement
Works with Director and staff to achieve productivity
Represents the Director as needed during the Directors absence
to assess unit-specific concerns.
Collaborates on clinic staffing schedules for licensed and
unlicensed staff per hospital scheduling calendar.
Monitors and adjust staffing levels if needed according to
census, acuity and available resources.
Assists manager with variance to productivity target.
Promotes excellence in nursing practice.
Identifies and participates in opportunities to share skills,
knowledge and strategies for patient care and system improvements
with colleagues and other healthcare providers.
Ensures orientation of new and reassigned staff members and
students is timely and appropriate.
As needed, participates in direct patient care.
Ensures competency based practices to enhance safe quality
Participates in Nursing and Hospital based performance
Facilitates and participates in departmental and/or
organizational education goals and initiatives.
Works with manager and educator to ensure employees are
knowledgeable about applicable standards and demonstrate consistent
performance that adheres to those standards and competencies.
Promotes a learning environment that enables nursing to make
contributions to function effectively by collaborating with nurse
educator to ensure consistent goals for the unit.
Promotes excellence in nursing practice.
Assures that areas of responsibility adhere to relevant safety,
regulatory, certification and/or accreditation standards.
Employees are knowledgeable about applicable standards and
demonstrate consistent performance that adheres to those
Monitors compliance of core measure initiatives for all
Daily Rounds on all patients to assure that needs are met and
resolve any issues that are identified.
Participates in monitoring quality control standards for the
Participates in cross-organizational activities to improve
Participates in chart review to evaluate compliance with quality
Education: Bachelor’s degree in nursing is required or must be
able to obtain BSN Degree within three years of hire Current
Louisiana Nursing License. CPR/PALS certification is required to be
current by end of general hospital/nursing orientation.
Experience: Three (3) years of management/supervisory experience
in healthcare setting preferred .
