Supports and implements philosophies, objectives and policies and procedures of Children#s Hospital of New Orleans. 2.######## Performs all essential equipment processing functions. 3.######## Processes instruments and supplies from all areas of nursing service and off-site clinics through cleaning, collecting, packaging, sterilizing, and storing properly. 4.######## Assists with preparing sterilization logs. 5.######## Operates all decontamination and sterilization equipment used for processing instruments and equipment. 6.######## Monitors the condition of instruments and equipment and reports any needs for repair. 7.######## Follows IFU#s given by manufacturers to decontaminate, sterilize and maintain instruments and equipment. 8.######## Communicates problems within the central sterile area through proper channels. Participates in daily SPD huddles. If a huddle is missed it is the SPD technician#s responsibility to read the minutes on returned to work. 9.######## Participates in professional education and growth opportunities within Sterile Processing. 10.###### Assists operating personnel by offering information as needed regarding equipment and instrument sets. 11.###### Precepts new employees under the direction of Central Sterile Supervisor. 12.###### Effectively manages time and resources to ensure that work is completed efficiently. 13.###### Follows all regulatory standards and IFU#s from manufacturers throughout decontamination and sterilization processes. 14.###### Sets up standard instrument sets accurately and adheres to count sheets.# Must be able to pull count sheets from computers. 15.###### Must be familiar with on-line resources. 16.###### Acts as a role model for other team members. 17.###### Performs other duties as assigned or requested. Asssumes department responsibilites and supports staff in the abcense of supervisor. Qualifications: Education:#High school graduate or equivalent required; graduate of an accredited Surgical Technologist program preferred# Experience:#One to Three years of Sterile Processing Experience preferred# License/Certification: Required:#Sterile Processing Certification from an accredited program will be obtained within One year from start of employment date Preferred:#Surgical Technician certification with CRCST certification# As a member of our team, you will not only experience personal reward, you will also find tangible benefits for you and your family.
