This job is primarily responsible for ensuring that the organization's applications meet established quality standards. The role is responsible for gathering and analyzing data in support of business cases, proposed projects, and systems requirements. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, writing test plans and scripts for tracking defects and fixes in product development, software application development, information systems, and operations systems. The role applies proven analytical and problem-solving skills to validate IT processes through careful testing to maximize the benefit of business investments in IT initiatives. This role will work independently while requiring direction on more complex issues.

In this job, you will:

Participate in the review of requirements specifications to identify gaps and inconsistencies.
Review and understand requirement specifications.
Modify and execute previously written manual test plans and test cases.
Create new test plans and test cases with minimal to moderate assistance.
Modify and execute previously written SQL queries.
Execute previously defined back-end and functional testing.
Modify and execute previously defined regression tests.
Creates new regression tests with minimal to moderate assistance.
Document detailed bug reports and/or testing defects and execute applicable testing once resolved.
Communicate test progress, test results, and other relevant information to project team.
Communicate with coworkers using both technical and user-friendly language.
Identify and recommend best practices to management and implement these as directed.
Propose team goal ideas to manager.
Other duties as assigned.

Here's what you'll need to be considered:

Education

Required - Bachelor's degree in computer-related field, or equivalent experience and training.

Experience

Required - 4 years' related working experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Thorough understanding of the software development lifecycle and testing best practice and methodologies.
Knowledge of and/or ability to learn the industry.
Highly proficient computer skills, including working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
Effective interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills with the ability to interact with all levels of people within and outside the organization.
Effective listening skills with the ability to interpret and share information clearly and concisely.
Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, flexibility, and efficient time management.

Physical Demands & Requirements

Sedentary work. Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.

Ability to sit/stand continuously.

Hearing. Perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction. Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, and to make the discriminations in sound.

The employee is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading.

Environmental Conditions

The work environments described here are meant to be representative of those an employee would normally encounter while performing the essential functions of this job.

The physical environment requires the employee to work inside where there are limited extremes to heat and/or cold, moderate noise, a normal office environment.

Travel, travel for project work, meetings, and training will be less than 5% of the employee's total workdays.
