ExemptLast Revised Date: 05/07/2025Job SummaryThe Academic Dean
works closely with the school leadership team and the Executive
Master Teacher in managing curriculum and instruction. The role
involves guiding teachers to ensure content is rigorous and aligned
with Louisiana Student Standards, driving student achievement, and
fostering a culture of instructional improvement. The Academic Dean
is evaluated by the Principal and the Executive Master
Teacher.Responsibilities
- Serve as teacher of record for a high school Science or Math
class.
- Enhance teacher proficiency in implementing curricula.
- Observe and provide feedback to teachers using the Louisiana
Educator Rubric.
- Facilitate teacher collaborations and provide coaching with
exemplary instructional practices.
- Ensure academic content meets expectations and assessments
align with pacing guides and standards.
- Review and edit course syllabi; oversee student data collection
and instruction quality.
- Attend training workshops with ACSA, NOLA-PS, and LDOE.
- Review summer program materials and programs.
- Meet with teachers to set and timely enter Student Learning
Targets (SLTs).
- Participate in Instructional Leadership Team meetings.
- Collaborate with the Executive Master Teacher on instructional
implementation.
- Develop pacing guides and ensure their use in instruction.
- Assist in developing and distributing benchmark assessments and
academic data.
- Support teachers in tracking student results and achieving
academic goals.
- Manage academic resources and oversee their distribution and
collection.
- Work additional days as stipulated for stipend payment,
including pre- and post-school year activities.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal and Executive
Master Teacher.Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required; Master's preferred.
- Valid teaching certification; administrative or supervisory
certification preferred.
- 3-5 years of successful classroom teaching, preferably in urban
or charter schools.
- Experience in instructional leadership, coaching, or academic
coordination.
- Deep knowledge of curriculum standards, instructional
practices, and assessments.
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication
skills.
- Ability to use data to inform instruction and improve
outcomes.
- Commitment to equity, excellence, and student success.
- High proficiency in SLT and teacher evaluations; proven ability
to work with diverse individuals.Physical Demands
- Sit, walk, stand, talk, and hear as required.
- Remain stationary for extended periods; move around campus as
needed.
- Occasionally lift or move up to 20 pounds.
- Communicate effectively in person, by phone, and email.
- Work primarily in classrooms, offices, and shared spaces.
- Adapt to a fast-paced environment with interruptions.
- Occasionally work extended hours or attend evening/weekend
events.
- Travel between schools or campuses if serving multiple
sites.
