Job Description River Oaks Hospital is seeking?a Director of Medical Records to provide?and ensure the efficient functions of all daily activities of the department are maintained.? Maintains records for each patient and assures completeness with JCAHO standards and facility by laws, supervises quantitative and secondary analysis of charts for deficiencies, distributes weekly, a current list of deficiencies to physicians and clinical staff, maintains a delinquent record count of less than 50% of the previous month's discharges, assures that the clinical staff is aware of medical record requirements and procedures for documentation and acts as a resource on an on-going basis. Knowledgeable of current legal requirements regarding release of patient information, consults with CEO concerning questionable legal issues, while observing confidentiality concerning patient information. Acts as River Oaks representative when subpoena requires attendance in court. Codes and abstracts data from medical records accurately and maintains a computerized Diagnostic Index, maintains a computerized Physicians Index of statistical information pertaining to individual physicians. Abstracts data and complies reports of censes information weekly, monthly and as requested, while reporting significant findings to CEO. Serves as the facility Privacy Officer, attends all trainings as necessary to keep current on privacy issues. Supervises and directs the activities of the department staff, ensures appropriate staffing levels as set by CEO and hires staff as needed within these guidelines, provides training, redirection and evaluations when appropriate, and maintains good communication concerning changing policies and other issues as pertinent to the department.? Demonstrates skill in both verbal and written communications and in interpersonal relationships with patients, families, peers, and medical/professional staff, conducts staff meetings monthly and more often as needed, resolves problems related to operations, and informs CEO of major areas of concern on a regular basis. Serves as a representative for the department for the hospital meetings as required. Interacts with departments to obtain support for and disseminates information about the department. Initiates QA reports based on department indicators and submits monthly reports of findings to the QA department. Reflects behavior, attitude and appearance appropriate to the position in accordance with Hospital standards. Observes Hospital standards as set forth in the Human Resources policies and procedures manual. Identifies own areas of need and takes initiative and responsibility to obtain the knowledge and skill to improve. Willingly adapts to changes and demonstrates a positive attitude and flexibility in scheduling and in the performance of duties assigned to this position. Presents a positive, friendly and helpful attitude profile in daily interactions with patients, staff and visitors. Presents a dependable and reliable attendance profile and provides adequate notification when requesting Paid Time Off. Participates in ongoing in-service, education and research experiences related to area of work and to maintenance of required competency and skill levels necessary for professionalism, attends all required in-services annually. Job Requirements MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: o Require a minimum of an Associate's degree, preferably in Health Information Management/ Coding; o Must possess current certification credentials (CPC/CCS; RHIT/RHIA) (AHIMA - American Health Information Management Association or AAPC - American Academy of Professional Coders) o Ability to set priorities, be self-directed, highly motivated and work in a fast paced environment; o Demonstrate organizational skills to assemble patient's medical record; o Candidate must have excellent communication skills; the ability to work with all levels of people and do so in a pleasant, customer service manner.Salary Range: NAMinimum QualificationNot Specified years
